Patience

Discouragement feels like :

struggling

to sprint through

soggy

field

of

knee-

high

mud.

Ugh.

But during the times that I walk through discouragement,

I don’t want to miss  anything God has for me in it.

Sometimes there is gold in the mud and sediment.

Those treasures that cause me to learn and grow. I want that gold nugget.

Patient in tribulation. OK, if it’s:

An event

With a start

And

More importantly,

A finish.

I’m ready

As long as it’s

Defined,

Reasonable

And…

Well…

over.

I don’t want long stuff.

When we do find ourselves stuck in the vortex of a long trial,

we scurry about in our minds, trying to discover whose fault it is.

About tribulation, Scripture does NOT say:

Fret

Blame someone

Sulk

Count

the

days

until

it’s

finished.

Nope.

Scripture says:

Be patient.

“Be patient” implies that the tribulation is not short.

Exhortation:

The exhortation to be patient that is in Romans 12:12 comes after instruction to

present your bodies as a living  sacrifice…which is your spiritual worship.

With this in mind, I wonder if patience in tribulation can be

a form of worship.

Perhaps patience in tribulation has little to do with you or me.

When our eyes are laser-focused on God,

we do not give in to the worldly pattern

of demanding the right to not have to deal with problems or hardships.

When difficulties come, or trials cast shadows on our days we should:

Rejoice in hope.

Be patient in tribulation.

Be constant in prayer.

Simple instructions…difficult to implement.

Beautifully stated…convicting and encouraging at the same time. I know these are the musings of one who has been thru it – not just read about it.
