Open Hands

Open hands and heart, Lord,

With my present and my future.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

With my leanings and my longings.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

With my friendships and my career.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

With my health and my time.

Oh to enjoy Your blessings

And not cling to them.

Oh to live in the moment

And not wish it away.

Oh to rest in Your Providence

And not clamor for control.

Oh to work at what’s before me

And not covet a different role.

To keep in step, Holy Spirit,

Is my longing true.

To smoothly move at Your command,

Oh Spirit, lead me to:

A faith that runs without tripping,

A hope that smiles, belief-bent,

A love for views of You Alone,

An iron will to repent.

Open hands and heart, Lord.

No grabbing at the gift.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

To let You write the script.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

To let You take and give.

Open hands and heart, Lord,

In every day I live.

Inspiring, convicting, challenging. So glad your blog is out of the bog, so we can continue to log (on).

It’s a little unnerving to pull this blog out of the bog! So thanks for your encouragment!
